Psalm 19:1 To the Chief Musician, a Psalm of David
The heavens declare the glory of God;
And the firmament shows His handiwork.
On the 1st day of creation, YHVH created the heavens and the earth.
On the 2nd day of creation, YHVH separated the waters and called the firmament Heaven.
On the 4th day of creation, YHVH placed the luminaries in the heavens to do several things:
1. to divide the day and the night
2. to serve as signs
3. for festivals
4. for days and years
These things declare His glory and show the work of His hands. The word 'declare' is cepher and it means to record (like a scroll) as in a story or numbers.
The heavens have the story of YHVH's glory written for all of mankind to see.
The use of the word 'glory' here means honor (as in to consider something heavy in the sense of respect).
We can see firsthand His work:
His work creating all things.
His work in delivering His people from bondage.
His obliteration of sin's power on the cross.
His coming work to repair and redeem the earth for the Father Himself.
Yeshua (Jesus) says time and time again: “It is written...”. Indeed it is written in the heavens.
As you look upward night and day you will be able to see the weight of the honor of which He is worthy.
You can also see the story of creation and redemption written throughout the heavens.
Anytime you need a reminder, encouragement or motivation look into the heavens.
Study the detail in the heavens.
See how exact and meticulous our Creator has been in creating the heavens and earth -- and YHVH saw that it was good.
Considering that when He created man, however, He said it was very good, we see that the detail in the heavens pales in comparison to the detail in us.
The word 'very' is used in the sense of an abundance of character.
He created man in His image and we overflow with character. Your character is found in your name, so go back and look over the meaning of your name. You were created with an abundance of that character.
He looks at you and says, “Yes, it is very good.”
Gaze into the heavens to understand our God, understand His desires, and understand yourself.
